# Biometric Scanner Settings

## Timecloud integrates with biometric scanner devices to provide secure, hands-free clock-in and clock-out for your team. This guide covers everything you need to manage devices and configure biometric scanner access for your employees.

#### What's covered

- **Managing Devices** — View, add, edit, and remove scanner devices from your account.
- **Adding or Editing a Device** — Set up a new device with a serial number, alias, location, and more.
- **Biometric Automation** — Enable **Auto CheckType** to let Timecloud determine In/Out direction automatically, and **Auto BreakType** to insert break records from gaps between working clock pairs.
- **Automatic Name Sync** — Employee name changes made in the web app automatically push to connected biometric devices.
