How to Assign a Shift in Employee View

Assigning shifts is the core workflow of the roster. In Employee View you have three ways to place employees on shifts.

Option 1 — Click to Assign

  1. Click an empty cell in the grid (intersection of an employee row and a day column).

  2. A drawer opens on the right side of the screen.

  3. Select a Shift Template from the dropdown.

  4. Optionally adjust the Start and Finish times.

  5. Optionally add a Roster Comment (visible to the employee).

  6. If your company uses Roles, select the role for this assignment.

  7. If your company uses Job Layers, select the appropriate job items.

  8. Click Save.

Tip: You can assign multiple shifts to the same employee on the same day by clicking Add Shift inside the drawer.

 

Option 2 — Quick Select (Bulk Assignment)

  1. Click the Quick Select button in the toolbar to open the shift template sidebar.

  2. Find the shift template you want and click either add or replace shifts

  3. Click on the grid cells where you want to add/replace the shift the shift (you can select multiple cells at once).

    • Add — adds the shift alongside any existing assignments.

    • Replace — replaces any existing shift on the selected cells.

  4. A snackbar appears at the bottom — click Save to apply, or Cancel to discard.

Option 3 — Drag and Drop

With the Quick Select sidebar open, drag a shift template from the sidebar directly onto a cell in the grid.
