How to Assign an Address to a Device

When you assign a physical address to a device (biometric scanner, tablet kiosk, etc.), every clock-in from that device automatically inherits the device’s location. This is useful for fixed-location devices like wall-mounted biometric scanners at a warehouse entrance.

Assigning a Device Address
  1. Go to SettingsDevices from the left sidebar.

  2. Click Add Device to create a new device, or click an existing device to edit it.

  3. In the device form, fill in:

    • Serial Number — The unique identifier of the device (required).

    • Alias — A friendly name (e.g., “Warehouse Front Door”).

    • Notifications — Toggle on to receive alerts from this device.

  4. Scroll down to the Device Location section.

  5. Type the device’s physical address into the search field (e.g., “123 Main St, Sydney”).

  6. Select the correct address from the dropdown suggestions.

  7. Click Save.

Once saved, the device’s address appears in the Location column on the Devices table, and all future check-ins from that device will use the assigned coordinates on the Map.

Syncing Employees with Biometric Devices

If your organisation uses WDMS biometric scanners, you can enable automatic employee syncing:

  1. Go to SettingsDevices.

  2. Toggle Sync Employee with the Biometrics device to on.

  3. Click Save Changes.

Individual employee biometric settings (permission, scanner group, and card number) can be managed from each employee’s profile under the User Access tab.
