How to Assign an Address to a Device
When you assign a physical address to a device (biometric scanner, tablet kiosk, etc.), every clock-in from that device automatically inherits the device’s location. This is useful for fixed-location devices like wall-mounted biometric scanners at a warehouse entrance.
-
Go to Settings → Devices from the left sidebar.
-
Click Add Device to create a new device, or click an existing device to edit it.

-
In the device form, fill in:
-
Serial Number — The unique identifier of the device (required).
-
Alias — A friendly name (e.g., “Warehouse Front Door”).
-
Notifications — Toggle on to receive alerts from this device.

-
-
Scroll down to the Device Location section.
-
Type the device’s physical address into the search field (e.g., “123 Main St, Sydney”).
-
Select the correct address from the dropdown suggestions.
-
Click Save.

Once saved, the device’s address appears in the Location column on the Devices table, and all future check-ins from that device will use the assigned coordinates on the Map.
Syncing Employees with Biometric Devices
If your organisation uses WDMS biometric scanners, you can enable automatic employee syncing:
-
Go to Settings → Devices.
-
Toggle Sync Employee with the Biometrics device to on.
-
Click Save Changes.

Individual employee biometric settings (permission, scanner group, and card number) can be managed from each employee’s profile under the User Access tab.
