How to Configure Minimum Overtime Rules

Minimum overtime rules guarantee that when overtime is triggered, employees receive at least a specified number of overtime hours — even if their actual overtime was shorter.

Where to Find It

  1. Go to Settings > Payroll Rules and scroll to the Pay Rules and Calculations section.
  2. Select or create an award, then open the Rules step (Step 4).
  3. Select the relevant Employment Type.
  4. Expand the Minimum Overtime accordion.

Tips

  • Minimum overtime works in conjunction with daily overtime rules. The daily overtime rule determines when OT starts; the minimum overtime rule ensures a floor.
  • This is useful for awards that state "overtime must be paid in minimum blocks of 1 hour" or similar.
