How to Configure Time Settings

The Time section controls the backbone of your timesheets — your work week start day, pay periods, overtime rules, rounding, and automatic clock-out. Getting these settings right ensures accurate timesheets and smooth payroll.

Getting There

  1. Click Settings (cog icon) in the left sidebar.

  2. Select Time from the settings menu.

Work Start Day

  • Click the day button (Mon through Sun) that represents the start of your work week.

  • This affects weekly overtime calculations, reports, and timesheet views.

Automated Timesheet Locking

Automatically lock timesheets after each pay period to prevent late edits.

  1. Toggle Automated Timesheet Locking on.

  2. Set Days after the End of the Period — how many days after a pay period ends before it locks. Use 0 to lock immediately. Negative values lock before the period ends.

  3. Choose the Time of Day — the hour the lock takes effect (e.g. 08:00).

Example: If your period ends on Sunday and you set 3 days at 08:00, the period locks on Wednesday at 8:00 AM.

Pay Period

Set the length of your pay cycle (visible when using the Awards engine).

  • Choose Weekly, Fortnightly, or Monthly.

  • If Fortnightly, set the First Date of Rule to anchor your two-week cycle.

Overtime Rules

Define when overtime kicks in (available when not using the Awards engine).

  1. Toggle Overtime on.

  2. Select the Overtime Period (e.g. Weekly, Fortnightly).

  3. Optionally enable Allow Adjusted Overtime Rules For Employees to let individual employees have different overtime thresholds.

  4. Choose Overtime Levels1 or 2.

  5. Set the thresholds:

    • Weekly Normal Time — hours before overtime starts (format: HH:mm).

    • Weekly Overtime 1 — hours before OT2 starts (if using two levels).

Rounding Rules

Round clock-in/out times to simplify timesheets (available when not using the Awards engine).

  1. Toggle Rounding on.

  2. Choose the rounding method:

    • IN/OUT — rounds start and finish times separately.

    • Total Hours — rounds the total worked time.

  3. Set the minute interval (5, 15, or 30 mins).

  4. Set the round-up threshold — the number of minutes after which times round up instead of down.

IN/OUT rounding

  • Start Time Round to Closest — set the minute interval.

  • Start Time Round Up — set when to round up.

  • Finish Time Round to Closest — set the minute interval.

  • Finish Time Round Up — set when to round up.

Public Holiday Pay

Configure how public holiday work is paid (available when not using the Awards engine).

  1. Toggle Public Holidays on.

  2. Set the Worked Multiplier — choose from standard rates (NT, OT1, OT2) or enter a Custom multiplier code.

  3. Optionally toggle:

    • Include Holiday Hours in Overtime — counts holiday hours towards the weekly overtime threshold.

    • Add To Standard Hours — includes holiday hours in normal time calculations.

  4. Enter a Holiday Payroll Code for export.

Lateness Threshold

  • Enter the number of minutes past a shift start time that counts as "late."

  • Any clock-in beyond this threshold is flagged as a late arrival.

Attendance Entry Auto Clock Out

  • Toggle Attendance Entry Auto Clock Out on to automatically end open attendance entries after a set duration.

  • Prevents forgotten clock-outs from inflating hours.

Saving Your Changes

  • Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

Tips

  • Set your Work Start Day to match your payroll cycle for consistent weekly reports.

  • Give managers a 1–3 day buffer on timesheet locking so they can review before records become read-only.

  • If you change overtime or rounding rules mid-cycle, existing records for that period may need to be recalculated.
