How to Manage Block Out Dates

Block out dates let employees set their unavailability, helping managers plan schedules more effectively.

Viewing Block Out Dates

  1. Navigate to the Leave page

  2. Click the Block Out Dates tab

Admin View

Admins can view all employee blockout rules with filters for departments, employees, and frequency.

Employee View

Employees see their own blockout rules and can add, edit, or delete them.

Adding a Block Out Date

  1. Click the Add Blockout button (employee view)

  2. Fill in the wizard steps:

Step 1: Date and Time

  • Set the Start Date and End Date

  • Toggle All Day on or off

  • If not all day, set the specific Start Time and End Time

Step 2: Repeat Settings

  • Choose the Frequency (e.g., Does Not Repeat, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly)

  • Set the Repeat Period

  • Choose whether the rule repeats Ongoing or until a Specific Date

Step 3: Comment

  • Add an optional comment (up to 140 characters) explaining the blockout

  • Click Submit

 

Editing a Block Out Date

  • Click the Edit (pencil icon) on an active blockout rule

  • Expired blockout rules cannot be edited

Deleting a Block Out Date

  • Click the Delete (trash icon) on the blockout rule

  • Confirm the deletion in the dialogue

Table Columns

  • Name — Employee name

  • Date Range — Start and end dates

  • Time — All Day or specific times

  • Frequency — How often the blockout repeats

  • Repeating End Date — When the repeating rule ends

  • Length — Duration of the blockout

  • Comment — Click the comment icon to view any notes
