How to Set Up Your Company Overview
The Overview section in Settings is where you configure the core details of your Timecloud account — your company name, timezone, branding, contract types, and departments. Get these right first, and everything else falls into place.
Getting There
-
Click Settings (cog icon) in the left sidebar.
-
Select Overview from the settings menu.

Company Name
- Enter your Company Name in the text field at the top.
- This name appears across the app, on reports, and in employee-facing screens.

Company Logo
Upload your company logo so it appears in the sidebar navigation for all users.
To upload a logo
- Under Company Logo, click Choose File.
- Select an image file (png, jpg, or webp).
- The logo appears in the sidebar next to your company name.

To replace a logo
- Click the upload icon next to the current logo preview.
- Select a new image file.

To remove a logo
- Click the delete icon next to the current logo preview.
- The sidebar will revert to the default Timecloud logo.

Theme Colour
Customise the look of your Timecloud account by choosing a theme colour. This colour is applied across buttons, tabs, icons, charts, and other UI elements throughout the app.
To change your theme colour
- Under Theme Colour, click the coloured square to open the colour picker.
- Choose a colour from the preset palette, or enter a custom hex code (e.g.
#005090). - The app preview updates instantly so you can see how it looks.
- Click Save Changes to apply the colour permanently.

Available preset colours
- Timecloud Blue, Deep Red, Deep Green, Deep Purple, Deep Teal, Deep Orange, Deep Grey, Saddle Brown, Dark Slate Blue, Deep Magenta, Dark Olive, and Navy.
Good to know
- If you leave the page without saving, the colour reverts to your last saved choice.
- Text colour on buttons and highlighted elements automatically adjusts for readability (white or black) based on the colour you pick.
Timezone
- Select your company's Timezone from the dropdown.
- Start typing to search — timezones are grouped by region.
- This ensures all clock-ins, shifts, and reports reflect the correct local time.

Contract Types
Contract types let you categorise employees (e.g. Casual, Permanent, Full-Time).
To add a contract type
-
Click Add Contract Type.

-
Enter the Contract Name and select the Contract Type.
-
Click Save.

To edit or archive a contract type
- Click the edit icon next to any contract type to update it.
- Click the archive icon to archive types you no longer need.
- Toggle Show Archive to view and restore archived types.
Departments (Groups)
Departments help you organise employees into teams, locations, or any hierarchy that fits your business.
To enable departments
-
Toggle the departments switch on.
-
A tree editor appears where you can add, rename, or drag-and-drop groups.

To rename the label
-
Update the Groups Name field to change the label (e.g. from "Groups" to "Departments" or "Locations").

Attendance Filtering Level
-
Use the Attendance Filtering Level dropdown to control how attendance records are filtered by group membership.
New group visibility
-
Choose who can see a newly created group from the dropdown:
-
All Admins
-
All admins with access to the parent group
-
The admin who created the group
-
Independent selection
-
If available, toggle Independent selection on so that selecting a parent group does not automatically select its children.
Saving Your Changes
-
Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.
-
The button is only active when you have unsaved changes.
Tips
-
Set your timezone early — changing it later does not retroactively adjust existing records.
-
Keep contract types simple and consistent. They appear in employee profiles and reports.
-
Use the department tree to mirror your real-world structure. You can always reorganise later by dragging groups.
