The Audit Log provides a complete, read-only record of every change made in your Timecloud account — who changed what, when, and exactly how. Use it to investigate discrepancies, verify approvals, or satisfy compliance requirements.

Getting There

  1. Click Settings (cog icon) in the left sidebar.

  2. Select Audit Log from the settings menu.

Searching the Log

  • Use the Search bar at the top to find entries by keyword (e.g. an employee name, a category, or a specific action).

  • Results update as you type.

Filtering

Filter By User

  • Select a specific user from the dropdown to see only their changes.

Filter By Category

  • Narrow results to a specific area (e.g. Attendance, Roster, Employee, Leave).

Timezone

  • Choose a timezone from the dropdown to display all timestamps in your preferred timezone.

Reading the Log

The table shows:

  • Date & Time — when the change was made.

  • User — who made the change.

  • Category — which area of Timecloud was affected.

  • Affected User — which employee was impacted.

  • Affected Date — the date the change relates to (e.g. the attendance date that was edited).

  • Properties — a summary of what changed.

Viewing Change Details

  1. Click the expand arrow on any row to see the full before-and-after details.

  2. The expanded view shows a table of each Property, its Previous Value, and its New Value.

  3. Click the View raw data icon to see the complete raw data.


When to Use the Audit Log

  • Compliance — Verify that changes meet your organisation's policies.

  • Resolving discrepancies — Track down when and by whom a record was modified.

  • Accountability — Maintain a clear record of all admin actions.


Tips

  • Check the audit log after payroll disputes to see exactly who edited a timesheet and when.

  • Combine the User and Category filters to quickly find specific types of changes.

  • The audit log is read-only — entries cannot be edited or deleted, ensuring a reliable trail.
