How to View the Payroll Summary

The Payroll Summary gives you a breakdown of interpreted pay entitlements for the selected period.

Opening the Payroll Summary

  • When the Awards engine is active, click the Payroll Summary button (chart icon) in the toolbar.
  • Review the interpreted pay entitlements for the selected period.

Reading Period Totals

  • The footer of the timesheet shows period totals:
  • Without Awards - Normal hours, overtime (by level), and total hours.
  • With Awards - A breakdown of pay entitlements including ordinary hours (OH), overtime split by rate multiplier (e.g. OT1.5, OT2), breaks, penalties, leave, and allowances.

Tiered Overtime Labels

When the Awards engine is active, overtime is broken down by its rate multiplier so you can see exactly how many hours fall under each tier:

  • OT1.5 - Overtime at 1.5x the base rate
  • OT2 - Overtime at 2x the base rate
  • Additional tiers appear automatically if your award defines other multipliers

This breakdown appears in:

  • The Payroll Time view totals card on each employee's timesheet
  • The Period Totals section of the Payroll Summary modal
  • The Overview payroll columns and employee totals
  • PDF and CSV exports from the Overview

In the Payroll Summary modal, each overtime detail row also shows the rate suffix (e.g. "Weekday Overtime (1.5x)") so you can trace which award rule generated the hours.

Missing Award Alert

If the selected employee does not have an Award (or Employment Agreement) assigned, the Payroll Summary will display a message instead of the usual entitlement breakdown.

  • The modal shows: "The selected employee does not have an Award assigned"
  • Click Edit Employee to go directly to the employee's profile and assign the correct award
  • Once an award is assigned, reopen the Payroll Summary to see the full entitlement breakdown

Good to know: The Edit Employee button only appears if your role has permission to edit employee payroll details.

Tip: Always review the Payroll Summary before exporting to payroll to catch any discrepancies.
