Mobile APP Offline Mode User Guide

What is Offline Mode? The Offline Mode feature allows you to continue recording your clock-in and clock-out times even when you are in areas with poor or no Wi-Fi or mobile signal.  Your records are stored locally on your device and will automatically sync with the Timecloud server to update your timesheet as soon as an internet connection is restored.

1. Enabling Offline Mode 

To activate Offline Mode on your device, you must do two things:

  1. Log in to the Mobile App while your device has an active internet connection. This is a one-time step needed to enable the functionality.

  2. Ensure your Admin/Manager has disabled (turned OFF) the following settings for your profile in the Timecloud system:

    1. Mandatory Job Layers: The "Mandatory" toggle must be OFF for all existing job layers.

    2. Geofence Lock: Turn OFF.

    3. Mobile Location Tracking Prompt: Turn OFF.

    4. Mandatory Comment: Turn OFF.


2. Important Limitations and Considerations 

When you are using the app in Offline Mode, be aware of the following limitations:

  • Job Selection: Since Mandatory Job Layer selection is disabled, you can clock in and out without selecting a job.

  • Photo Capture: The "Capture Photo" feature is unavailable.

  • Timesheet Entry: You cannot enter or modify timesheet data.

  • Mobile Roster: The mobile roster is not available for viewing.

  • Profile/Settings Changes: Any updates made to your profile or system settings will not take effect until your device is back online and has successfully synchronised.

 

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Do I need to manually upload my records once I'm back online?

A: No. Your records are designed to automatically synchronise with the server as soon as the app detects an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).

 

Q: What happens if I clock in while offline but clock out while online?

A: The clock-in record stored locally will synchronise when you clock out, and the full shift record will be sent to the server.
