Geofence Blocking

Use Geofence Lock to block employees from clocking in when they are outside the appropriate geofence.

This page covers how to enable Geofence Lock and how to assign geofences so clock-ins are blocked correctly.

Before you start

  • You need at least one geofence created on the Map page.
  • You need job items set up (Job Tracking). If you plan to assign geofences via the Job Linking menu/tab, Job Linking must be enabled first.

Turn on Geofence Lock

Go to Settings → Job Tracking and fonfigure the following options:

  • Job Linking : Turn this on if you assign geofences via Job Linking.
  • Suggested Job Items (optional): Controls whether job suggestions are shown to employees.
  • Suggested Default Job Items (optional): Controls whether default job suggestions are shown.
  • Geofence Lock: Turn this on to block clock-ins outside the assigned geofence.
  • Geofence Job Layer: Choose which job layer the geofence rules apply to. For example, Job or Task.
  • Geofence Radius: The radius used when a job item is created automatically

Note: Job linking must be enabled to assign the geofence via the Job Linking Menu.

What employees see in the mobile app

If an employee tries to clock in while outside the geofence, the app will block the action and show an error message.

Geofence clock in failed

Please Note:

Geofence Lock is turned on in Settings → Job Tracking. Enforcement happens when you assign a geofence to job items in your selected Geofence Job Layer.

Job Linking is optional. Only enable Job Linking if your organisation uses it to link or assign job items. You can still use Geofence Lock without Job Linking by assigning geofences directly to job items.
